Trauma can stem from a wide range of distressing events, unhealthy relationship patterns, or systemic societal issues. Experiencing traumatic events can lead to a number of distressing symptoms and patterns that impact our ability to function in daily life. The good news is that the effects of trauma can be healed. With a compassionate and skilled therapist, patience and time, you can make strides towards feeling whole, complete and appreciative of your authentic self.
Trauma-Informed Care
As a trauma-informed practice, Trail Ahead has considered every element of care to try to make our space feel welcoming to all our clients. From your first point of contact with a member of our admin team to our offices & therapy services, our aim is to create a safe, nurturing, and judgement-free environment for you to process, understand, and manage the emotional and/or physical responses caused by trauma.
We also recognize that marginalized communities of all kinds are disproportionately impacted by systemic oppression that makes them more likely to experience trauma. We also see trauma as something that extends beyond PTSD, and as a catalyst that can lead towards other concerns such as anxiety, depression, and grief.
As a queer-owned practice, with many diverse and queer-identifying providers, we have a unique understanding of the challenges marginalized people face, as well as the support, empathy, and tools needed to heal from trauma.
