Person doing EMDR therapy

We offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a highly effective, research-based psychotherapy method, to help people recover from trauma, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms.

EMDR is a type of psychotherapy that uses bilateral stimulation, often sided-to-side eye movements, rhythmic tapping, or audio tones that activate both sides of the brain during therapy to help reprocess traumatic memories. Since these experiences don’t get properly processed in the brain when they first happen, this is why they continue to affect our mental and physical wellbeing long after the experience has passed.

By working to change the emotions, thoughts or behaviors that result from traumatic experiences, EMDR therapy helps change how these experiences are stored in your brain so that you can remember the traumatic events without experiencing the intense emotional reactions that characterize post-traumatic stress.

Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. Although it’s widely assumed healing from severe emotional pain must take a long time, EMDR therapy has shown that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma, just as the body recovers from physical trauma.
