Grief is one of the most challenging emotions we experience as humans. The grieving process is unique in that it can continue to impact us months or even years following a loss and the flood of emotions we can experience at any point after the loss can feel just as intense as when it first happened. Grief is also challenging to confront alone, as it often encompasses emotions that feel in conflict with one another, including love, sadness, confusion, despair, anxiety and regret.
Managing Grief
Grief is the natural response to loss. At Trail Ahead, we truly believe that it is ok to not be ok in the wake of loss. The pain of grief can disrupt both physical and mental health, which can make it difficult to sleep, eat, go to work or enjoy our hobbies or time with friends. While these reactions are part of the human experience, we also understand that we need space to process and find ways to cope with loss so that we also do not feel as though we are simultaneously losing ourselves.
Whether the grief you’re experiencing is a result of the loss of a loved one or relationship, or changes in your health, body, job, or home – our trauma-informed therapists have helped many people within our community process their emotions & find the support they need to cope with grief and loss.
