Hello! My name is Selah Schumpelt (She/Her) I am originally from the four corners area, however I have been living in the Albuquerque for the past 15 years. I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor’s in psychology, and from New Mexico Highlands University with a master’s in social work. My practice can best be described with a Person-Centered approach. I believe therapy is collaborative effort between therapist and client, where in the client is the expert of their own life. Working with me means entering into a safe space where clients can feel safe to explore, grow and learn. My work is informed by a humanist and strengths-based perspective.
I am a proud member of the queer community, and I am LGBTQIA+ affirming. I am gender affirming, sex positive and kink positive. I am aligned with the healthy at any size community (HAES). My work is Trauma-informed and culturally competent. My most utilized modalities are Solution Focused Therapy, and narrative therapy. As a Community Support Worker (CSW) I also provide Comprehensive Community Support Services at Trail Ahead Therapy.
I specialize in working with people who have experienced religious trauma and people who identify as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
In my spare time, I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities as well as generally just being a nerd about fantasy/ RPG’s and history.
