Mage (they/them, ATR-BC, LHMC-AS) is an autistic disabled multimedia artist and art therapist of euro american descent from and living on Pueblo land in Albuquerque, NM. Their work as an artist and art therapist notices the transformative, surprising, and aligning nature of creative processes for the collective and the self-of-the-collective. Mage uses varied tangible and digital mediums, with an emphasis on the somatic impact of the material and the metaphoric qualities of creation.

Mage received their master’s in mental health counseling with art therapy from Antioch University Seattle, on Duwamish, Coast Salish and Stillaguamish land. Their orientation to therapy is non-judgmental, client-centering and -affirming, and focuses on creating reparative relational support across the neurodiversity spectrum; attempting to meet each client where they are and interrupting cycles of shame. Guided by principles of existential, queer, and humanistic theories, Mage holds liminal space to gently explore and notice our capacities to build lives worth living.
Mage is HAES aligned, kink and poly-affirming, and prioritizes harm reduction.
Mage’s values of decolonization, re-indigenization, and Land Back of Turtle Island are a framework for consistent reflection on their relationship to the role of art therapist and the mental health-industrial-complex, and they invite you to learn more here: Landback.
