We offer art therapy that uses art media, the creative process, and the resulting artwork as a therapeutic and healing process. This form of therapy is especially helpful when someone is struggling to find the words to articulate their thoughts and emotions in words. During these times, your art therapist can help you express yourself through a variety of art media and help you integrate nonverbal cues and metaphors that are often expressed through the creative process.
This therapy is designed for people of all ages to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem. Since this therapy is designed to be accessible to everyone, it doesn’t require any prior art experience to provide therapeutic benefits. Our art therapists also have specialized training to teach people to use materials they may not be familiar with and guide them in the art therapy process.
Similar to other forms of therapy, art therapy can also be utilized through telehealth, using whatever materials someone may have on hand and their therapist can make suggestions, if desired, about the type of media that may be most helpful to have available.
